Iran’s national library director visits Germany, Austria

TEHRAN – The National Library and Archives of Iran Director, Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri, left Iran on Sunday to visit several libraries in Germany and Austria.

Salehi-Amiri will visit the Bavarian State Library in Munich and hold talks with officials, following the invitation of the director of the library, Persian service of MNA reported on Sunday.

The Bavarian State Library houses the second largest collection worldwide of written documents on wood from ancient South Arabia (present-day Yemen).

He is also scheduled to visit the International Youth Library in Munich.

Visiting the Munich Digitization Center (MDZ) and the Institute of Book and Manuscript Conservation are also among other programs arranged for his stay in Munich.

Salehi-Amiri is also expected to hold talks with Hermann Parzinger, the President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz) in Berlin the next day.

He will also visit the Berlin State Library and hold talks with the director of the German Federal Archives (Deutsches Bundesarchiv).

On his trip to Austria, he will visit the Austrian National Library in Vienna. Visiting the Austrian State Archives and the Institute of Iranian Studies in Vienna are also included in the week-long visit.
